Wrexham County Borough Council is the governing body for Wrexham (county borough), one of the administrative subdivisions of Wales.

Governance and political composition

27 of the Council's 52 councillors are independent of any political party. Labour remains the strongest party with 13 councillors, down from 23 after a group of ten Labour councillors quit the Labour party in September 2014. One previously independent councillor has joined Plaid Cymru since being elected in 2012. The Liberal Democrats won a by-election in the ward of Llay in July 2015, taking their total number of councillors up to 5.

Elections take place every four years. The last election was 3 May 2012.

Electoral divisions

The county borough is divided into 47 electoral divisions returning 52 councillors. There are 35 communities in the county borough, some of which have their own elected council.
