World championships in sailing

Officially recognised world championships are sanctioned by World Sailing formerly the International Sailing Federation. Sailing as a sport has probably the most number of World Championship title with well over 100 titles awarded many to two or more people awarded annually.

The number of titles is due to the divercity of equipment. Sanction World Championships fall into the following categories:
