Research issues

It should be noted that a few historical details mentioned in the hours of narration are inaccurate or open to question. For instance, the initial episode states that the 1937 Japanese attack on the USS Panay killed 50 crew members. In fact, only three crew members were killed. In episode 5 it is suggested that the Japanese march on Port Moresby was only halted when the US troops arrived to reinforce the Australians, in fact the US forces would not take part until the Australians had pushed the Japanese completely off the Owen Stanley Range. In another example, in Episode 3, "Britain at Bay", the narrator mentions "a powerful squadron of two French battleships and two battle cruisers", and then one minute later says, "they [the British] destroyed or severely damaged three of the battleships."
