Wolf CMS is a content management system and is Free Software published under the GNU General Public License v3. Wolf CMS is written in the PHP programming language. Wolf CMS is a fork of Frog CMS.

The project was a finalist in the 2010 Packt Publishing's Open Source awards for the "Most Promising Open Source Project" category.

As of the 28th of December 2010, the Wolf CMS code repository was moved from Google Code to GitHub.

Core plugins

Wolf CMS can be extended through its plug-in system. A few of them, called core plugins, are available with the default installation.

  • Archive: provides a blog-style article setup to a Wolf CMS installation
  • Comments: provides commenting functionality
  • File Manager: simple file manager to provide a web interface for a public directory
  • Textile: to allow more flexibility for site administrators and content editors, provides a selectable page content filter system.
  • Markdown: provides a selectable page content filter system
  • Statistics: tracks all visitor information to provide simple statistics for a website
  • SQLite 3: provided for those administrators who want to use SQLite instead of MySQL as a database management system
  • Page not found: Allows administrators to customize their "page not found" page.
  • Requirements

    Wolf CMS requires a webserver with PHP Version 5.3 or greater (with PDO support). MySQL 5 or greater, SQLite 3 or PostgreSQL 8.4.5. Wolf CMS assumes you use the Apache HTTP Server by default but is also known to run on these HTTP servers as well:

  • Cherokee
  • Lighttpd
  • Nginx
  • Hiawatha
  • Zeus
  • The Wolf CMS wiki provides URL rewriting rules for each of the listed http servers.
