World Is One News (WION) is an international news entity with headquarters in India. Its website was launched on June 15, 2016 and the TV channel on August 15, 2016 as a free to air satellite service in 37 countries.

The channel is a venture by Essel Group, India's largest media conglomerate.

WION stands for "World is One News" which is inspired by the Group's motto, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (The World is One Family). The channel reports global news and issues from South Asia. The new venture aims to tell global news with an unbiased approach.

Founding Team

The founding team consisted of Emmy-nominated producer Rohit Gandhi as editor-in-chief, Mandy Clark, former CBS correspondent, and Mithaq Kazimi, American media producer and distributor among others.

Current Team

Current team includes Padma Rao, former South Asia bureau chief, Der Spiegel. Saad Hammadi, former correspondent of The Guardian Archith Seshadri, former CNN anchor and Tathagata Bhattacharya, former editor at Network18 among others.

Television

WION targets International news stories with a South Asian perspective. Instead of broadcasting the local news reports from India, WION broadcasts international news content delivered by its correspondents across the globe.

Digital

Web properties include the WIONews website, listed on Google news. Other than reporting news, special content of the platform includes WION Edge, featuring intriguing stories; live streaming sessions and viral videos; WION 360, virtual reality content.
