History

Winfield Township was established in 1843, and named for Winfield Scott.

The John Ross Farm was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.

Geography

According to the 2010 census, the township has a total area of 25.06 square miles (64.9 km2), of which 24.74 square miles (64.1 km2) (or 98.72%) is land and 0.32 square miles (0.83 km2) (or 1.28%) is water.
