Profiles

Windham High School is a public high school in the town of Windham, New Hampshire, established in 2009. The first graduating class of Windham High School was in 2012. When it first opened, it started out with only freshmen and sophomore classes. The following two years introduced junior and senior classes. Windham H.S. graduated its fourth senior class on June 12, 2015; the Class of 2016 was the largest group of graduates to date, with 194 students receiving their diplomas. Windham H.S. has a teaching staff of approximately 70 educators, although that number is expected to grow as the student population increases over the next 4–5 years. Windham's first Principal, Richard Manley (2009–10), was replaced by Thomas Murphy (2010–13). Murphy was followed by Ryan Kaplan (2013–15); he was succeeded by Robert Dawson on July 1, 2015. The school is located atop "Mt. Jaguar" at 64 London Bridge Road in Windham, along a connector road specifically built to link the campus to nearby NH Rte. 111.

It is home to the 2012 New Hampshire Teacher of the Year, Bethany Bernasconi, who teaches biology. Principal Tom Murphy was named New Hampshire Principal of the Year in early 2013. District Director of the Arts and Band Director Jared Cassedy was honored as the Grammy Foundation Music Educator Award recipient in February 2015.

Windham HS provides MacBook Air laptop computers to all its students while they are attending the school. It has a wide variety of electives to choose from, and is known for the high standards that are required to be successful academically. 95%+ percent of its graduates go on to two or four-year colleges, often able to start ahead of their collegiate peers as the school has an extensive Advanced Placement program. WHS offers 14 AP courses, with the senior:exam ratio is over 1.5:1. Windham H.S.'s passing rate and average AP scores are significantly higher than the state, national and global averages. On August 18, 2012, President Barack Obama spoke at the school during the United States presidential election, 2012.

Windham HS also has a newspaper, titled the JagRoar, which was started in 2012. The newspaper is accessible at: https://issuu.com/jagroar . It has had the following Editors-in-Chief: Ariana Mandra, Jillian DiPersio, Ashley Domogala and Katey Vesta.
