Very Rev William Wishart (secundus) (1691/2-1753) was the Principal of Edinburgh University from 1736 to 1753. He is not to be confused with his father William Wishart (primus) who was principal from 1716 to 1730. Wishart came into a large legacy from his uncle Sir James Wishart who was an Admiral of the White. He was also a Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

He was a critic of George Berkeley and David Hume, and author of A Letter from a Gentleman (1745).
