The primary markets Willdan serves are: energy engineering; infrastructure and transportation; municipal engineering, planning, and staff augmentation; economic and financial analysis; and homeland security and emergency management. The company serves these four complementary markets through its four service segments — Willdan Engineering, Willdan Energy Solutions, Willdan Financial Services and Willdan Homeland Solutions.

In November 2013, Willdan Group contracted with Southern California Edison Company (SCE) to help reduce public and private school energy use.

History

In 1964, the company was built by William Stookey and Dan Heil.

In 1999, Willdan completed an acquisition of MuniFinancial, a finance consulting company.

In 2005, Willdan formed its homeland security services division, now Willdan Homeland Solutions.

In 2006, Willdan Group, Inc. completed its initial public offerings in NASDAQ, becoming a publicly traded company under the symbol WLDN.

In 2008, Willdan completed an acquisition of Intergy Corporation, which was renamed Willdan Energy Solutions; the acquisition enhanced the company's ability to provide specialized energy, water, and resource management services to offices in New York, California, and Texas.

In 2015, Willdan acquired 360 Energy Engineers and Abacus Resource Management as part of Willdan Energy Solutions, expanding its capabilities into Energy Service Company and Energy Savings Performance Contract services.

In 2016, Willdan acquired NYC-based Genesys Engineering, P.C., bringing Power Engineering services into its portfolio, with an eye to evolving of U.S. power systems toward Distributed generation and microgrids.
