Nicholls started taking pictures of wildlife when he was just 12 years old. He has traveled across the United Kingdom, to Cambodia and Nepal and to other locations as a photographer and wildlife documentary maker. He has been interviewed by Live ‘n’ Deadly, BBC Countryfile and BBC News.

He is the owner of a free resource called Nature TTL, set up for nature photographers, which contains contributions and instructional articles by some of the world's best photographers. The website is read by thousands of people each day, and has proved a popular resource in the photography community.

He has won a number of awards for his photography.

    Nicholls is the author of one book called On the Trail of Red Squirrels that was published in 2013. He has also written and published a number of digital eBooks.

    Personal life

    Nicholls was a student at the Newcastle Royal Grammar School between 2006 and 2013. He now studies Zoology at the University of Exeter in England.

    Conservation work

    Nicholls is heavily involved in the conservation of the red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris), which is endangered in the United Kingdom. In February 2015 he welcomed HRH Prince Harry to his home in Northumberland and helped to explain his conservation efforts alongside the Northumberland Wildlife Trust.
