Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council elections

One third of Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council in Greater Manchester, England is elected each year, followed by one year without election. Since the last boundary changes in 2004, 75 councillors have been elected from 25 wards.

Since 1973 political control of the council has been held by the following parties:

Boundary changes took place for the 1980 election, and more recently the 2004 election - which increased the number of seats by 3. Both needed the whole council to be elected in those years.
