Who the Hell Is Juliette

This documentary by cinematographer Carlos Marcovich details the unlikely friendship between Yuliet Ortega, a 16-year-old Cuban prostitute, and Fabiola Quiroz, a Mexican model, who met on the set of a music video on which Marcovich was working. Spanning almost two years, the film follows the pair to Mexico City, both U.S. coasts and Cuba, exploring each womans attitude toward their absent father along the way. Marcovich organizes a reunion between Yuliet and her father in an emotional climax.

Who the Hell is Juliette? (Spanish: ) is a Mexican 1997 documentary film written and directed by Carlos Marcovich. The film is about Yuliet Ortega, a teenage prostitute who lives in Havana, Cuba and Fabiola Quiroz, a Mexican model. Marcovich intentionally misspelled the title character, "Yuliet Ortega", as "Juliette Ortega" in the credits.

Marcovich met Fabiola Quiroz during the shooting of a music video. He met Yuliet Ortega in Cuba and decided that she would be the younger sister of Quiroz in the music video. Marcovich features the similarities of the two women: green eyes and persistent thoughts about their missing fathers. After shooting the music video, he filmed the two women over a period of three years and created the film, Who the Hell is Juliette?

The film was filmed in Cuba, Mexico, and the United States.

Cinematographer Carlos Macovich met Yuliet Ortega, a young "jinetera" (prostitute) from Havana, when he shot a video in Cuba, starring model Fabiola Quiroz. When he realized that the two women had not seen their respective fathers for many years, he made this documentary, which is also a reflection on the process of filmmaking.
