Whitley Secondary School (abbreviation: WSS) is a co-educational government secondary school at 30, Bishan St 24, Bishan, Singapore. Whitley Secondary is the (School Cluster) Centre Of Excellence for National Education of Singapore for South Zone.

Contents

The school was located at 430 Toa Payoh Lorong 1 from 2006–2007 and now the school has been moved back to 30 Bishan Street 24.

40th anniversary celebrations

In 2006, the school celebrated its 40th anniversary and had its first musical cum gala dinner followed by a musical cum festpiel night. On 22 October the school organized the InE Carnival. A funfair was organised, with stalls selling goods and art pieces to raise funds for the major renovation (PRIME) for Bishan Campus.

Homecoming March 2008

On 31 December 2007 students and teachers marched from Toa Payoh Holding Campus back to the new Bishan Campus.

Uniform

The Whitley School Uniform is to be worn at all times .It consists of a white Sleeved shirt with either short trousers (Secondary 1 & 2) or Brown long trousers (Secondary 3 , 4 & 5) for guys and brown skirts for girls.
The students are to be in white socks and shoes.
Whitleyans wear a brown striped tie every Wednesday and go to the hall to watch some perfomance

House System

For Physical Activities , Students are required to be in School Attire. Different colours represents different house. Students are not allowed to be change house nor represent another house in sports activities. Whitley was printed at the back of the shirt. They are allocated to a house in secondary 1.Below are the list of different house.

The students are grouped into four houses, namely Taurus, Capricorn, Leo & Sagittarius where they compete against each other in the school's annual Sports Day, Cross-Country Championships and during inter-house games.

    Incentives and sanctions

    Electronic devices such as smartphones and tablets are not allowed to be except school computer to be used for IT Learning to enhance the learning experience for all students. Students are not allowed to use their electronic devices during curriculum time only after receiving permission from teachers for emergency purposes.

    The punishment for Students in Whitley for offences such as playing truant, gambling, vandalism, fighting, smoking, theft, bullying, cheating, or being repeatedly disrespectful to staff, students are to be sent to the principal or discipline Master. For repeated offences, serious consequences will be dealt with the students. For a repeat of minor offences such as inappropriate hairstyles and being late consecutively,it will be included in their report card.

    Sports Facilities

    The school has a indoor sports hall which is used for Artistic Gymnastics (Trampoline). It is used for PE Lessons and CCA. Students use it to compete with other competitors from other school.

    Design & Technogoly Rooms

    There are 2 floors of D&T rooms for D&T Projects. Students are not allowed to be in the from unless with teacher's supervison.
