Plot summary
Tommy Oliver, the previous Green Ranger, is returning to Angel Grove. Kimberly, having received his letter, is excited and wants to throw Tommy a Welcome Home party. Lord Zedd takes advantage of the opportunity and formulates a plan to, once again, turn Tommy evil and against the Rangers. At this time, Zordon and Alpha 5, leave from the Command Center to work on a secret project, but do not inform the Rangers. The Rangers question their absence.
Meanwhile, Bulk and Skull find the dumpster that Rita Repulsa was sealed in, after it has landed on Earth. They speculate that if they open it, it will reveal to them the secret identities of the Power Rangers.
Lord Zedd sends out Nimrod, the Scarlet Sentinel, to distract the Rangers as he beings his plan to capture Tommy. As the battle escalates, Billy returns to the Command Center and discovers a secret portal that takes him to Zordon and Alpha 5, who are secretly constructing a new Power Ranger; the White Ranger.
Billy informs the other Rangers about his discovery and the Rangers debate the merits of Zordon's actions. Zordon then contacts the Rangers and reveals Tommy to be the new White Ranger and new leader of the Power Rangers. Zordon gives him the weapon Saba and a new Tigerzord that Tommy uses to defeat Nimrod in battle.
The Rangers discover Rita's dumpster, just as Bulk and Skull free her, only to return her to the dumpster and send it back into space.
