Hauraki began his career in the NRL, playing for Australian side Parramatta Eels. He made his début against New Zealand Warriors during the 2007 season and went on to make 32 appearances over three seasons.
His most memorable game for the Eels came in Round 6 of the 2009 season, when he scored two tries against Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, after replacing the injured Australian Test International Nathan Hindmarsh.

In 2010, to ease pressure on the Eels salary cap, Hauraki was released and signed a two-year contract with Crusaders RL Super League club. He made his début for Crusaders against Wigan on Friday 5 February 2010 at the DW Stadium. He went on to make 28 appearances, scoring 10 tries as Crusaders reached the play-offs for the first time.

Leeds

After his very impressive first season in Super League, Hauraki signed a three-year contract with the four-time champion Leeds. He made his début off the bench against Hull and scored in Leeds' 32-18 win. He played at loose forward for Leeds in the 2011 Challenge Cup Final which was lost to Wigan.

Castleford

Weller joined Castleford for the 2013 season. Wellar quickly established himself in what surprisingly became one of super leagues most feared packs, helping them cement their highest Super League finish of 4th. He was also instrumental in a run to the Challenge Cup final, that ended in a 23-10 defeat against rivals Leeds Rhinos.
