Weller s salamander


The Weller's Salamander (Plethodon welleri) is a species of salamander in the family Plethodontidae. It is endemic to the eastern United States. It was found on Grandfather Mountain near Linville, North Carolina, by the young herpetologist Worth Hamilton Weller. On a second field trip there to gather more specimens the 18-year-old scientist died in a fall from a cliff.
