We Only Make Believe is a 1971 vocal duet album by American country music singer-songwriters, Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty.

Contents

The album was the duo's first album together. The first and only single spawned off the album, "After the Fire Is Gone" went to #1 on the Billboard Country Chart and also charted on the Billboard Hot 100. This would be the first of a string of albums Lynn and Twitty would release every year until 1981. The album's first track is a cover of Twitty's solo hit "It's Only Make Believe", which Twitty co-wrote with Jack Nance. Lynn wrote two tracks for the album, including "Don't Tell Me You're Sorry". One of Twitty's compositions also appears in the album called "I'm So Used to Loving You".

The album became one of the duo's biggest-selling and most successful albums together. The album peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart and #78 on the Billboard 200, the duo's highest-charting album on the Billboard 200. In addition, the album was also certified "Gold" by the RIAA, becoming one of two album that would be certified "Gold".
