He currently works as a teacher at Folly Quarter Middle School teaching sixth grade English language arts and is the youngest of four children.

In the Fall of 2008 he announced that he was also co-authoring at least three books with fantasy author Christopher Hopper. The series is titled The Berinfell Prophecies. The first of which was released on November 3, 2009 titled Curse of the Spider King. The second followed on July 13, 2010, entitled Venom and Song. The third is titled The Tide of Unmaking, and was self-published on September 11, 2012.

With his release of "Ghost" on July 4, 2013, Batson entered the self-published genre of supernatural thrillers, aimed at more mature audiences than his previous books. Its sequel, Ghost: Minister of Fire is planned to be released in 2015.

His most recent series, "Dreamtreaders" published by Thomas Nelson Inc (2014), is a modern-day paranormal YA adventure dealing with the subject of dreams.
