Early years

Wayne Keith Caparas was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His father is a Filipino-born career sailor in the United States Navy, and his mother a Bostonian of French-Canadian and Irish descent.

Fitness career

Caparas established himself as a fitness industry pioneer during the 1990s. In 1989, Caparas led two different partnership teams to develop seven Charleston, SC area health clubs. In addition, Caparas created a women's fitness competition, "LifeQuest Triple Crown," that aired worldwide on ESPN. Caparas also served on the American Council on Exercise and IHRSA, for which he lectured across the US. Caparas licensed the LifeQuest brand to media giant Guthy-Renker and Olympic Gold Medal winner Caitlyn Jenner (then Bruce) for use in a series of infomercials that aired nationwide. In the late '90s Caparas sold his interests in LifeQuest. By the late 90s, after serving as Co-Publisher and Contributing editor to the newsstand magazine Vie (a women's fitness magazine), Caparas played a key role in the development of Oxygen Magazine as a consultant, contributing editor and writer. Most notable among his journalism were research pieces on Human Growth Hormone (hGH) and the Soybean, and articles on Sprint Training and the future of professional fitness sports.

Film and Theater

Caparas entered the film industry in 1988 by working as technical advisor on Quiet Victory, The Charlie Wedemeyer Story. Caparas later landed roles in several films including Other Voices Other Rooms, which earned him membership into the Screen Actors Guild in 1994. Over the years Caparas has worked as an actor in a more than a dozen motion pictures and television productions. During the mid-'90s, Caparas began writing and directing regional Passion Plays and Musicals for large church audiences in Charleston, SC. Caparas was also the Founder and first Executive Director of the Carolina Film Alliance, a grassroots political action group that sparked changes in state film policies and tax incentives. Caparas continues as an occasional actor working out of Nashville, TN, and recently performed a recurring role in the primetime comedy hit The Detour created by Samantha Bee and Jason Jones.
