Warrigal Creek massacreEdit

In July 1843 Ronald Macallister was killed by Aborigines near Port Albert. To avenge his death a party of whites led by a Scottish settler and pastoralist attacked a group of Aborigines. It is thought that perhaps 60 people were killed in this action, although historians believe this is an exaggeration. After an escalation of killing between settlers and Aborigines an uncertain number of Aborigines were killed at Warrigal Creek, one of the Gippsland massacres. The massacre was led by Scotsman Angus McMillan, leading a company of the Highland Brigade.
