Wanniyala is a genus of cellar spiders in the family Pholcidae, containing only two species endemic to Sri Lanka.

Etymology

The generic name is coming from native Sri Lankan people called Vedda people and their surname of Wanniyala-Aetto. They are the earliest civilized people in the island, originate through son and daughter of Kuveni and King Vijaya.

Description

They are small cellar spiders about 2 mm in maximum length. They have six eyes and usually spider type four pair of legs. Abdomen is globular and male has distinctive distal hinged sclerite on procursus in genitalia.
