Geography

Wald has an area, as of 2006, of 6.8 km2 (2.6 sq mi). Of this area, 66% is used for agricultural purposes, while 28.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 5.4% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.1%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

Demographics

Wald has a population (as of 2015) of 844. In 2008 about 10.1% were foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -6.3%. Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (93.6%), with Serbo-Croatian being second most common (2.3%) and French being third (0.8%).

As of 2000, the gender distribution of the population was 51.3% male and 48.7% female.
