WOLB is an Urban Talk radio station in Baltimore, Maryland. Broadcasting on 1010 AM, it is owned by Radio One. The station's trasmitter is located in the Orangewood section of east Baltimore, and its studios are located in Woodlawn (they were previously located at Cathy Hughes Plaza in downtown Baltimore).

History

The station was founded by Sidney Tinsley as WSID. It began broadcasting in November 1947 on 1570 kHz with 1 KW power. At first WSID specialized in programming for Baltimore's suburban areas, but the station was sold in 1949 and began targeting African-American listeners. In 1950 the station moved to its current frequency of 1010 kHz.
