History
WMOV-FM signed on in 1990 under the ownership of J.H. Communications as WXRI-FM; taking the call letters of the former station on the 105.3 frequency that had been owned by televangelist Pat Robertson until its sale in May 1989. The station continued with the Contemporary Christian music format of the previous station until its parent company entered an agreement to simulcast the music of WBSK; an urban dance-formatted station that was co-owned by the owners of WOWI.
Simulcast
The station used to simulcast the rhythmic AC format on WKSA. On March 31, 2011, the 107.7 frequency was given an upgrade that now covers the entire area, thus paving the way for both stations to split up and become separate stations, and took the call letters WMOV-FM to match their new "MOViN 107.7" handle and Rhythmic AC format. When it was WKUS, it previously had a smooth jazz format until 2010, when it moved WKUS's Urban AC format from 105.3 to both the 92.1 and 107.7 signals.
On November 2, 2012, WMOV-FM began switched to playing Christmas music, branded as "Christmas 107.7". It was believed that a change in format was to take place, however the station returned to its original branding after Christmas. The station would continue to go all-Christmas in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 keeping the "Movin" moniker and changing their slogan to "Hampton Roads' Christmas Station."
