History

WGEZ began broadcasting September 26, 1948, on 1490 KHz with 100 W power (full-time). The station, a Mutual affiliate, was licensed to Beloit Broadcasting Company. On August 3, 2016 WGEZ switched format over to Iron Country 101.9FM and 1490AM. The format was designed for those country music listeners. That are tired of the Pop sounding country music on today's radio. The weekday lineup consists of Big Red in the morning from 6 til 10am with his co-host Tyler Zavadsky, Sherri Gibson on Midday's from 10am til 3pm, Afternoons with Keith Cech from 3pm til 7pm, Evenings with Hurricane Jerry Huffar from 7pm til Midnight, and Overnights from Midnight til 5am with Katie Turner.
