The station is also heard on a low-power FM translator, 105.5, which allows listeners who prefer FM radio to hear WGAN in and around the city of Portland. In addition, WGAN is heard on the HD2 channel of co-owned 93.1 WMGX. WGAN is simulcast on WGIN AM 1400 Biddeford for better coverage in York County, Maine. AM 560 broadcasts at 5000 watts around the clock, covering much of Southern Maine and along the Maine Coast up to Rockland. Studios and offices are located on Western Avenue in South Portland and the transmitter is near the Maine Turnpike off Warren Avenue in Portland.

Programming
WGAN airs a local wake-up show, with syndicated programs the rest of the day. Weekdays begin at 5 a.m. with The WGAN Morning News with Ken and Matt. At 9 a.m., Laura Ingraham is heard followed at noon by Rush Limbaugh. Boston-based but Portland-born Howie Carr is heard in afternoons. At 7 p.m., WGAN airs Mark Levin and at 10 p.m., it's John Batchelor. Overnight, WGAN carries Coast to Coast AM with George Noory.
Weekend mornings begin with a local talk show hosted by John McDonald, 6 to 10 a.m. Saturday's from 10am to 1pm features Inside Maine with a variety of local notable talk show hosts including a 1-hour appearance from Senator Angus King once a month. Weekend syndicated programming includes The Tech Guy with Leo LaPorte and a variety of other shows including shows on local real estate and home repair.
History
The station was founded in 1938 by Guy Gannett Publishing, which was then the owner of the Portland Press Herald newspaper. WGAN gained a companion television station, WGAN-TV 13, in 1954 and a co-owned FM station, 102.9 WGAN-FM (now WBLM) in 1967. Until the early 1980s, Gannett's Portland operations owned the major daily newspaper, the CBS television station, 102.9 WGAN-FM and 560 WGAN, two of the city's top radio stations. Channel 13 was later renamed WGME when WGAN-AM and FM were sold to Taylor Communications in 1983. In 1987, WGAN was sold by Taylor to Saga Communications, its present owner.
WGAN adds FM Translator
On May 27, 2014 WGAN began simulcasting on FM translator W288CU 105.5 FM, via WMGX's HD2 subchannel.
