Vozinha's club career has consisted of spells in Cape Verde, Angola, Moldova, Portugal, Cyprus, Slovakia and Chile. A full international since 2012, with the second-highest caps in the history of the national team, he has played in five major international tournaments: the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, 2015, 2021, and 2023, and the FIFA World Cup in 2026. He served as captain during Cape Verde's qualification for the latter, the country's first-ever appearance at a World Cup. Vozinha attracted significant international attention and acclaim for his performances against finalists Spain and Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, including keeping a clean sheet against the former in a group stage match and handing them their only draw in the entire tournament.

Club career
Vozinha began his career in Batuque FC of São Vicente in 2009, playing for them until 2011 before moving to local city rivals CS Mindelense. Following good showings with the club, he was signed by Progresso FC in Luanda, Angola. He will make a return to Mindelense in 2013, where he will play in the São Vicente Island League.
International career
Vozinha made his debut for Cape Verde in 2012 in a friendly against Ghana at Lisbon. After an injury to Fock, he was called up to play for Cape Verde in their qualifying play-offs against Cameroon for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations. He was a major part of the side that stunned the 'Indomitable Lions' 3–2 on aggregate, thus becoming the first Cape Verdean side good enough to qualify for a major tournament, the Africa Cup of Nations. He is now considered a core player of the national side.
