Volker Halbach (born in 1965 in Ingolstadt, Germany) is a German logician and philosopher and fellow of New College, Oxford. He is author of several articles and books including the Logic Manual, a textbook on undergraduate logic and different works on the axiomatic motivation of truth. He was educated at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitaet of Munich and the University of Florence before becoming a professor of philosophy at the University of Konstanz. He has been at New College since 2004. His main research foci relate to the axiomatic theories of truth and various theories of logic. His work also covers the philosophy of language, epistemology, and philosophy of mathematics. Along with Eduardo Barrio, Halbach is co-director of a collaborative research group established in both Oxford and Buenos Aires.
