He used many of Britain's finest young jazz musicians, whom he plucked from obscurity while they rehearsed at Wood Wharf Studios in Greenwich, such as Django Bates, Iain Ballamy, The Fun Horns of Berlin and Steve Arguelles. Albums have been released on VOTP Records and Babel Label.
The name of the band comes from the quote "Vox populi, vox Dei" (originally attributed to the monk Alcuin), which Jenkins rewrote to be "The Voice of God is the Voice Of The People. And the religion is MUSIC".
