History

ViTrox Technologies was established in 2000 in Penang by Chu Jenn Weng and Steven Siaw Kok Tong who studied together at University Sains Malaysia in 1990's inside their bedroom garage . Chu JW had an inspiration of becoming an entrepreneur after visiting Hewlett Packard garage in USA. Therefore, after he had worked in a multi national company for several years, he roped in Steven Siaw Kok Tong as a business partner to handle the operations and marketing parts of business meanwhile Chu Jenn Weng focus on the technical sides of the operations. As their business expanded, the business operations was moved from their bedroom garage to the Krystal Point, Bayan Baru. As the business continued to grow, business operations moved to several places.

In 2006, ViTrox secure exclusive contracts with SRM, another Penang based MNC specializing in electric test handler for 10 years estimated to be worth of RM100 million to provide the machine vision solutions. During 2008 economic crisis, ViTrox Technologies purchases AXI and AOI business unit from Agilent as the former company decides to exit the business to focus on the electronic test.

With the purchase of AXI and AOI from Agilent, ViTrox Technologies now have 4 different segments of business units which are system integrator and solutions provider of high-speed machine vision inspection systems, automated optical inspection, X-Ray inspection and electronics communication systems to cater different kind of vision test for different segments of customer bases in semiconductor related industries worldwide. ViTrox key customers are in the back-end semi-conductor assembly and packaging industry as well as the electronics manufacturing and contract manufacturing industry.

In 2013, ViTrox have an internal target of "555 strategy" which meant have the annual turnover of MYR500 million, have 500 employees by the end of 2015. But as the year 2015 is reaching near with the target is nowhere near the sights, Chu Jenn Weng switching its plan to "Asia Expansion Strategy" whereby they are focusing in Asia regions naming China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Philippines.

At present, ViTrox is well recognized as one of the world-leading automated machine vision inspection solution providers with an extensive customer base in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, India, Australia, Europe, Brazil, Mexico, the USA and more

Business unit

ViTrox is specialized in machine vision system (MVS), automated optical inspection (AOI), and automated X-ray inspection (AXI) system.

MVS (Machine Vision Solution)

The MVS business unit provides 2D and 3D inspection systems, Tray to Tray & Tray to Tape & Reel Vision Handlers for back-end semiconductor assemblies & test industry. solution for Orientation Inspection, Mark, Lead & Package Inspection.

AOI (Automated Optical Inspection)

The AOI business unit provide solutions for PCB board inspections which can inspect post-flow, pre-flow, solder joint defects and as well as matching the components placement location and orientation to the golden template. It has the patent pending profilometry technology which can measures 3D features of the solder paste.

AXI (Advance X-Ray Inspection)

The AXI business unit provide solution for AXI test system for PCBA assembly line. It uses X-Ray to inspect the features of the PCBA products for any hidden defects in double sided panels.

SPI (Advanced Solder Paste Inspection System)

Solder Paste Inspection is applicable to different fields such as mobile phones, tablet PCs, computers and accessories, digital cameras, camcorders, automotive, medical, server, LED, FPC, communication products and so on and it is one of the most decisive procedures as it affects the finished quality of circuit board.

V-ONE (Advanced Solder Paste Inspection System)

V-ONE a software for Collect, Visualize and ProAct. During the Collect stage, users are able to monitor, collect machine data, and track issues in real-time even they are not physically on the pro-duction floor. 

ViE (Electronic Communication System)

ViE is one of the earliest subsidiaries of ViTrox that designs and manufactured its own electronic communication system to complement itself to the main machine vision integration into the customer's machine.

Facion (Apps Development)

The recently established business unit, Facion recently released a non - contact cardiac measuring app for Android, iOS and Windows 8 which are using photoplethysmography algorithm.
