Visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens

Visa requirements for Ukrainian citizens are administrative entry restrictions imposed on citizens of Ukraine by the authorities of other states. As of 1 January 2017, Ukrainian citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 82 countries and territories, ranking the Ukrainian passport 58th in terms of travel freedom according to the Henley visa restrictions index. After positively fulfilling all criteria of EU's Visa Liberalization Plan throughout 2015 and early 2016, Ukraine is expected to achieve visa-free regime with Schengen area member states in June 2017.

Recent

On May 31, 2011 Ukraine and Serbia signed an agreement on a visa-free regime between the two countries. On April 24, 2015 Chile and Ukraine abolished visas allowing their nationals to stay in the territory of the two countries for a period of up to 90 days in each six-month period. Iran began issuing 30-day visa on arrival to citizens of Ukraine on October 22, 2015. On March 2, 2016 Indonesia introduced the visa-free regime for Ukrainians arriving for less than 30 days. Saint Kitts and Nevis signed a mutual agreement with Ukraine on September 22, 2016 to abolish visa requirements and be able to stay up to 90 days during a visit. Albania and Ukraine signed a mutual visa waiver for stays of 90 days on November 4, 2016. On November 24 2016, Hungary was the first state from the EU that began offering Ukraine D-type visas which require no fees and allow for stays of up to 90 days. On December 14 2016, a new decree on visa policy of Costa Rica came into force allowing Ukrainian citizens to travel visa-free for up to 90 days with a passport that's valid for at least 3 months.

Limitations

Visitors with passport stamp of Israel are not allowed to enter a number of countries because of the Arab League boycott of Israel.

As a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh War between Azerbaijan and Armenia, Azerbaijan refuses entry to passport-holders of Ukraine and any other country if they are of Armenian descent. It also strictly refuses entry to foreigners in general whose passport shows evidence of entry into the self-proclaimed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, immediately declaring them permanent personae non gratae.

Vaccination

Many African countries, including Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Rwanda, São Tomé and Príncipe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Zambia require all incoming passengers to have a current International Certificate of Vaccination. Some other countries require vaccination only if the passenger is coming from an infected area.

Passport validity

Many countries require passport validity of no less than 6 months and one or two blank pages.
