History

In 2015, Schinker was granted both a trademark on the name and a patent related to the underlying process. Virtuacast technology is currently available only for brand promotions, exclusively from Radiant Event Technology.

The technology has been reported to be used for brand promotions by Coca-Cola, American Express, NBA, and others.

Application

In 2015 Virtuacast ran a kickstarter campaign to help fund the launch of its mobile application, targeted to the general public. Virtuacast creates life size holograms, allowing users to interact with them and sharing the video on social media. Virtuacast uses an iOS or Android app in combination with a mat on the ground on which the hologram is based, displayed inside the program and recorded to the video by keeping the mat in view of the camera. The application has been deemed similar to Microsoft's HoloLens.

The application and the technology is based on merging pre-recorded videos with real time interactivity.
