Fitness career

His career began in New Orleans, Louisiana after he graduated from Tulane University. He became a fitness trainer while living in New Orleans, and hosted a top rated radio show on WSMB. He also worked at Newman High School in New Orleans as a strength and conditioning coach. Among the multiple students he trained there were Archie Manning's sons.

Vinnie has trained more Hollywood celebrities than any trainer to date.

He also is credited with successfully working with several comedians such as Howie Mandel, Margaret Cho, Bill Engvall, Carol Leifer, Brad Garrett, and Rhonda Shear as well as unsuccessfully working with Robert Kelly.

He has helped sculpt many Playboy Playmates during their centerfold months.

Author

As an author, he wrote a best-selling children's book, titled "Monty".

In July 2013, Vinnie released his second book called "Fitness Confidential." The book was written with Dean Lorey and covers Vinnie's career as a personal trainer, as well as his "no sugar no grains" approach to eating healthily. "Fitness Confidential" has been optioned by Sony Television for development as a television series.

Due to recent success, he currently travels the world as an international motivational speaker.

Podcasts and internet personality

In 2012, he started the "Angriest Trainer" podcast, or more commonly known as "Vinnie Tortorich, Celebrity Trainer" with co-host Anna Vocino, who was best known for the self-improvised show "Free Radio" on Comedy Central. The podcast is a frequent top rated show on iTunes, with shows released as frequently as 4 times a week.

In October 2014, Vinnie launched Pure Vitamin Club, an online subscription-based business selling an original multivitamin/multimineral formula.

Personal life

He first walked into a gym when he was 8 years old, the impact of which set him on his path toward a career in health and fitness.

He was a star athlete at Ascension Catholic High School in Donaldsonville, Louisiana. He studied on a football scholarship at Tulane University.

He has participated in the Furnace Creek 508 bicycle race, produced by AdventureCORPS, Inc., as a solo competitor and has completed it multiple times. His story has been featured in several publications, including Westside Today, The Signal, and The Acorn. Throughout the 90s, he has completed more mountain bike races than he can even remember.

Diagnosed with leukemia in July 2007, he continued to train for marathon cycling events. After the cancer went into remission, he raised money for less-fortunate patients through the non-profit organization Maximum Hope Foundation, which counts celebrities like Brad Garrett and Michael Chiklis as supporters.

He has been in a long-term relationship with actress Serena Scott Thomas, since 2007.
