Vinay Chandran is a gay rights and human rights activist, a counselor, a writer based out of Bangalore. Vinay Chandran had also given a TED Talk on Homosexuality in NIT Trichy. He also runs a free helpline for counseling to LGBTQ individuals called Sahaya Helpline. He has written a book from his experience as a counselor and many articles as well in the areas of Queer and Human rights.

Vinay Chandran continues to serve as the Director of the Bangalore Queer Film Festival (BQFF) since its inception in 2008.
