Vessel is a public structure and landmark planned for the Hudson Yards project in Manhattan as the centerpiece of the five-acre plaza. Visitors can climb the elaborate honeycomb-like structure, which is 15 stories high and modeled after Indian stepwells. The installation was designed by the British designer Thomas Heatherwick and is planned for completion in 2018 at a cost of $150 million. Journalists compared its prominence to that of the Parisian Eiffel Tower.
