Velsoft Training Materials Inc (Velsoft) is a provider of customizable training materials in the form of courseware and eLearning. It is a privately held company based in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, Canada. The firm was co-founded in 1998 by Jim Fitt and Ken O'Neill as an ebook company with a focus on teaching children how to use technology but later shifted focus on the corporate training market.

All of Velsoft's training content is created by an in-house production team. The company releases, through its Courseware Assurance program, at least two new courses each month, one focused on computer skills and the other on business, or soft, skills.

History

Founded in 1998, Velsoft is short for "Velocity Software", the company's original name. The company name was changed to Velsoft, when the domain "velocitysoftware.com" was taken.

In the beginning, Velsoft was developing materials to teach kids about computers, but in 2002 the company began focusing on developing their materials for the corporate training market. Then in 2005, Velsoft expanded their training materials by introducing Soft Skills courseware in addition to their Computer Skills courses. the power Since mid-2003, Velsoft's focus has shifted from K12 curriculum to corporate training materials. Velsoft's first commercial application was computer training courseware followed by soft skills courseware.

In 2008, Velsoft broadened its market by exploring online learning and in 2010 the company launched a complete Learning Management System (LMS) making their training materials available to customers in eLearning format.

In 2013, Velsoft was awarded Nova Scotia's Exporter of the Year by the Nova Scotia Government.

In 2015, Velsoft was featured in an ad campaign for the Nova Scotia Government call World | Oyster | Go.

In 2002 the company focused their attention to developing content directed at the corporate training market. Velsofts courses fall under two libraries, computer skills and business, or soft, skills. Each library is broken up into different bundles focusing on specific subject matter.

Velsoft began exploring online learning in 2010, launching their first Learning Management System (LMS), a system designed to administer, document, and track eLearning courses. The company later introduced their own eLearning courses, or eCourses designed to plug into SCORM compliant LMS. This made their Computer Skills and Soft Skills library available in eLearning format.
