Velagoundampatti is a place in Tamil Nadu, India. It is located on the state highway connecting the district headquarters, Namakkal with the other major town of this area, Thiruchengode. It is located along the State Highways SH-94 stretch, connecting Namakkal with Erode, Tirupur, Coimbatore.

The temple of Nallayee Amman is located on the state highway, near velgoundampatti police station. The temple is constructed and maintained by the Vellan Chettiar community people. Recently (in 2011) the old temple is renovated / reconstructed and the kumbabishekam is performed.

Major Festival : "Aadi Perukku" (which falls on 18th Day of Tamil month Aadi, normally on second week of August)

First day of Tamil Month-Aadi called as "Thalai Aadi " in that people will celebrate as " Thengai Sutra Knombi(Putting Rice ,Dhal and sweet ingredients inside to the coconut and boiling it on fire)" and worship the God .

Specialties of VGP : This town has a courageous police force and the station is located near the bus stop.

Namakkal is known for education , and this town too has a pride of having Kongu nadu matric higher secondary school. In both studies and extra curricular activities this school reached in high end. It holds many state ranks in education and National medalist in athletics.[1]

Kongu bakery is a major landmark in velagoundampatti.
