Power star pawan kalyan varun tej s debut movie launch
Personal life
He is born to Telugu actor Nagendra Babu and Padmaja. Senior actors Chiranjeevi and Pawan Kalyan are his uncles. Actors Allu Arjun and Ram Charan are his cousins. His younger sister is Niharika Konidela who is a television anchor and actress.
Career
Tej debuted as a child artist in his father Nagendra Babu's film Hands Up! when he was just ten years old. He made his adult debut with Mukunda, starring opposite fellow newcomer Pooja Hegde. The film earned mixed reviews, with Hemanth Kumar of The Times of India rating the film 3 out of 5 and wrote. "Every once in a while there comes a film, which stands apart from the rest in terms of the subject it explores and the tone of narrative, although the nuances might not be blatant. You know it's different because it tries to break free from the template of an action comedy, a genre that has become synonymous with Telugu cinema these days. Mukunda is exactly that kind of film and much more. It's a film which is so aware of the milieu that it's exploring that you get sucked into the narrative to have a ringside look at the complex characters that inhabit the canvas the story unfolds on."
Tej's second venture was the 2015 war film, Kanche, received positive reviews from critics. Tej's performance as Dhupati Haribabu was praised with The Times of India praising his "capability to shift gears from intense to sobriety". His second release that year, Loafer, was a box office failure, along with Tej's 2017 outing Mister.
The later half of 2017 saw the release of Fidaa, where he played an NRI falling in love with a village belle. The film earned critical acclaim for it's simplicity, performances by the principal cast, and screenplay. Although Tej's role was dominated by his co-star's Sai Pallavi's, his portrayal earned him praise as well, with 123telugu.com calling his "ease with emotions in the film quite heart warming".
He is currently filming Venky Atluri's next, opposite Raashi Khanna.
