In 2009, Varigence released Business Intelligence Markup Language (Biml). In October 2011, Varigence held the $10,000 Biml Challenge at the annual PASS Summit in Seattle, Washington. A $10,000 grand prize was given to the person who could complete a business intelligence task the fastest using Biml

Biml
Business Intelligence Markup Language(Biml) is an XML-based language that allows you to describe your BI solution in a declarative fashion, similarly to using HTML to describe how a web page should appear. In addition, you can embed BimlScript (C# or VB.NET code) into Biml, in the same way that ASP.NET works with HTML. This allows for large numbers of packages to be created with a minimal amount of code.
In June 2011 key portions of the Biml engine, including dynamic package generation, were contributed to the BIDS Helper open source project hosted on CodePlex. In September 2012,BimlScript.com a community website for developing and sharing Biml solutions to BI problems, and contributing Biml content to share with others was launched. Along with tutorials, walkthroughs, and videos, the site provides an online Biml editor.
Mist
Mist is an IDE for authoring Biml code and building BI assets. Mist leverages visual design capabilities and debugging features to simultaneously edit entire business intelligence models, including relational tables, SSIS packages, and cubes. Mist also incorporates modern programming IDE features, including text editors with syntax highlighting, Intelliprompt and quick-info displays, source control integration, and multi-monitor support.
Vivid
Vivid is an add in for ExcelOLAP pivot tables, collaboration, and rich commentary that improves the way users interact with Excel. Vivid provides more than 100 features that enable users to work more efficiently and effectively with SSAS/OLAP pivot tables inside Microsoft Excel.
