Valentyn Mykhailovych Bilotserkovskiy (Ukrainian: Валентин Михайлович Білоцерківський; born October 14, 1948) is a Ukrainian violinist.

Childhood

Valentyn Mykhailovych Bilotserkovskiy

Valentyn Mykhailovych was born and lives in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Born to a family of violinists the choice to be a violinist was obvious. At the age of five Valentin took up the violin at first time. This little violinist as musicians speak - eighth part – is kept in the house in a place of honor.

Study

Belotserkovsky graduated from the Kharkov ten-grades standard musical school, then - the Kharkov institute of arts (now the Kharkov State university of arts) - a class of the prof. A. Leshchinsky. After the end of institute did military service, in ensemble of the Kiev military district. As a part of a quartet and as the soloist of an orchestra with concerts visited all Ukraine. In February, 1973 V. Belotserkovsky as a part of a quartet of the Kiev military district became the Winner of National competition of N. V. Lysenko passing in Kiev. After being discharged from the army he became the graduate student of the Moscow Academy of music of Gnesiny from 1972 to 1974.

Pedagogical activity

From 1973 to 2000 Valentin Mikhaylovich worked as a teacher at the Kharkov university of arts of Kotlyarevsky, and since 1993 and up to this date - at the Kharkov pedagogical university of G. S. Frying pans. He not only profess a class of violin and ensemble at violinists, but also lectures a history of performance and a teaching methodology of playing on bowed instrument During work time at the Kharkov pedagogical university of G. S. Frying pans were prepared 7 winners of the international competition "Fortissimo".

Scientific activity

Upon demobilization, 1972–1974, he is a post-graduate of Moscow Academy of Music, named after the Gnesins. In 1973-2000, Valentyn Mykhailovych lectured in Kharkiv University of Arts named after Kotlyarevskiy, since 1993 and till now he has been lecturing in Kharkiv pedagogical university named after G.S. Skovoroda. Not only does he teach the specialty class and the ensemble class with violinists, but he also lectures on the history of performance and methodology of teaching to play the strings. V.M. Bilotserkovskiy has scientific works: study manual of series of lectures on the history of string performance and on methodology of teaching to play the strings (1972), a monography ‘Psychological background of ensemble performance’, scientific articles on problems of ensemble performance in special musical journals, articles and sketches on the history of string performance in Kharkiv.

Pedagogical activity

Valentyn Mykhailovych has also been lecturing in a Children’s music school No. 13 named after Kolyada (from 1973 till now, from the moment of its foundation). He lectures and has practical classes on violin and chamber ensemble, guidance of a school violinists’ ensemble and symphonic orchestra, numerous performances, concerts, tours. For many years, Children’s music school No. 13 collaborates with the Gymnasium for blind children named after Korolenko. Valentyn Mykhailovych took active part in teaching children with vision problems. His Program on teaching to tune a piano has been approved by the Ministry of Culture in Kyiv. This course has been taught by V.M. Bilotserkovskiy for many years.

Violin Ensemble "Vdokhnoveniye"

From 1998 to 2013, Valentyn Bilotserkovskiy worked in Kharkiv University of Humanities ‘People’s Ukrainian Academy’, where he was a creator and permanent leader of the ‘Vdokhnoveniye’ People’s performance violinists’ ensemble. The ‘Vdokhnoveniye’ ensemble is a laureate, award winner and winner of various musical festivals and contests. Among them there are national contests such as ‘Students’ Spring’ and ‘Barvy Oseni’, International music contests such as ‘Landysh’, ‘Fortissimo’, ‘The Flower of Hope’ Festival of children’s and youth’s art in Turkey (Kemer), Festival of Ukrainian and Polish music named after Karol Shimanovsky.

Programs on TV

In 2010, the ensemble won a Grand-prix and a Special prize of S-tet TV-Channel at ‘Zvezdnye Mechty’ Kharkiv First television festival of children’s and youth’s art. The ensemble gave two-part concerts on a permanent basis both in the Phylarmonic Hall and in the House of Organ and Chamber Music in Kharkiv. Leading soloists-instrumentalists and vocalists performed with the ensemble. Most of arrangements were created specially for ‘Vdokhnoveniye’ violinists’ ensemble by its leader – V.M. Bilotserkovskiy.

In 2004, the ensemble was given the ‘Exemplary’ title and released its first CD. In 2008, V.M. Bilotserkovskiy was awarded with a badge of honour ‘For developing education in Ukraine’ and with a personalized watch of Mayor of the city of Kharkiv. In 2009, the Ensemble was awarded with a ‘People’s performance ensemble’ title. In 2013 the Ensemble celebrated its fifteenth anniversary.
