Ustad Mohammad Ibrahim (Sindhi: استاد محمد ابراهيم‎) was born on 13 June 1920, in a small village Sillyaya, Gujarat. He was a Sindhi musician and a well-known singer. He died on 3 May 1977.

Early life

He was belonging with medium rich family. His father forcibly, sent him to one of his Hindu friends at Mumbai, India for learning engineering work. Against the wish of his father, he started learning music from the college professor Narain Das, when he came to Karachi he worked on ships as a repairing technician and earned six to seven hundred rupees per month.

Singing career

He was fond of music since childhood but his parents stopped him from singing. But, in the love of music he left this job and joined Radio Pakistan Karachi in 1948 against fifteen rupees per month salary. Afterwards, he became music composer at Radio Pakistan Hyderabad. His services for the Sindhi music are matchless and commendable. He gave enormous composition to Sindhi music. He was able to sing in various languages, Sindhi, Siraiki, Punjabi, Brahui, Balouchi and Kutchi. He was the 1st singer who sang poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai in the shape of Kafi and gave a new trend to it. His voice is preserved in cassette and gramophones. He also performed out of country and earned a big name.

Film career

He also played a role as an actor in the first Sindhi Pakistani film "Umer Maruee". His songs were recorded for back ground of Sindhi film.

Death

Following the cancer disease, he left this world on 3 May 1977.
