Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO), a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, is a utility company serving most of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. UPPCO provides electric power to consumers.
UPPCO's service area covers 10 counties in the central and western portion of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. (Alger, Delta, Marquette, Menominee, Schoolcraft, Baraga, Houghton, Iron, Ontonagon, and Keweenaw. UPPCO generates only 20% of its electricity. The rest of it is purchased from Consumers Energy in lower Michigan and also from Wisconsin Energy Corporation, which owns the Presque Isle Power Plant in Marquette, Michigan.
UPPCO's transmission voltage is 138,000 volts. UPPCO has interconnections with sister company Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, as well as Wisconsin Energy and the Cloverland Electric Cooperative.
UPPCO's subtransmission voltage is 69,000 volts. There are interconnections with the Marquette Board of Light and Power, Alger-Delta Electric Co-op Association and Cloverland Electric.
UPPCO's distribution voltage is 12,470/7,200 volts.
