The University of West Los Angeles - School of Law (also referred to as UWLA - School of Law) is a private, for-profit law school. History

UWLA was founded in 1966, by Henry Blunt, and three other Culver City High School educators. One of the first teachers UWLA hired to teach law classes was Attorney Clifford Dicker. He taught at the school. Professor Dicker became a professor of community property and continued to teach until his death in 2009. Jay Paul Frykberg was appointed Dean of the Law School in 2013.

The School of Law received accreditation from the Committee of Bar Examiners of The State Bar of California in 1978. It is not approved by the American Bar Association.

In 2002, the San Fernando Valley College of Law, co-founded as an independent school by Leo L. Mann and Joseph P. Lamont in 1962, was acquired and merged into UWLA. Originally the San Fernando Valley College of Law was the first law school in the San Fernando Valley. Today, many of the attorneys practicing in the San Fernando Valley are graduates of the San Fernando Valley College of Law, including a number of judges.

Moot Court

California Deputy Attorney General David F. Glassman leads the UWLA Moot Court Program. He serves as the faculty advisor to UWLA students competing in statewide and national moot court competitions. During Glassman's tenure as moot court advisor, UWLA students have won best brief awards in the Roger J. Traynor California Appellate Moot Court Competition and reached the finals of the Seton Hall John J. Gibbons National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition. In 2006, a UWLA team of students finished second in the written brief portion of the latter event, defeating more than 30 ABA institutions. In 2009, a team of two UWLA students received first-place in the same competition.
