The University of New Haven Police is the university police department of the University of New Haven, which has an 84-acre (340,000 m2) campus in West Haven, Connecticut. Its 16 officers are state certified and sworn law enforcement officers, protecting the campus area 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They protect approximately 6500 students, that live in on campus residence halls, and university owned apartments. The department has full police power on the university campus as a constabulary of the city of West Haven Police Department. Police authority is granted by state statute through the Mayor of the city of West Haven.

  • The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) system is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques presented by three nationally certified instructors. It is a free and comprehensive 12-hour course covering awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance and the basics of hands-on defense training.

    In 2007, the Connecticut Supreme Court decided in Miron v. University of New Haven Police Department (SC 17596) that employers had the right to give critical job reviews.
