University Institute of Engineering & Technology (UIET) was established by Kurukshetra University in 2004 to be developed as a "Centre of Excellence" in order to offer quality technical education and to undertake research in Engineering & Technology.It is a government college situated in University campus of kurukshetra university . Presently, the institute is offering four B. Tech and eight M. Tech and three Ph. D. degree programs in the technically important disciplines. In B. Tech Degree the institute is having course of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Biotechnology Engg. In M. Tech. Degree the institute is having course of Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Biotechnology, Thermal Engineering, Industrial & Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Material Science & Technology. The institute is also offering Ph.D. programs in three engineering disciplines i. e. Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and BioTechnology. The institute is also serving as a nodal agency for the matters of academic importance like, development of scheme of examination, syllabus, academic plan and maintenance of standards in affiliated Engineering colleges and is headed by Director, Prof.C.C. Tripathi. The institute was started with the help of the World Bank and functions as a self-financed college. The college is under University administration.

Location

The institute is located in the prolific green campus of the Kurukshetra University, along the south bank of the holy tank, the Brahmasarovar. The university campus is located in Thanesar, Kurukshetra, Haryana (29.9657° N, 76.8370° E). The campus is located at a distance of 175 km from New Delhi and 100 km from Chandigarh. It is well connected via the Indian Railways network. The two nearest international airports are located in Chandigarh and New Delhi. Kurukshetra being situated on the NH-1 is well connected by road to various important cities of North India.

Sports

UIET stands tall among competitors with all the advanced sports infrastructure provided by the sports department of Kurukshetra University.

UIET has organized an inter-college sports meet "PRATISPARDHA-2007" in which 16 colleges from Haryana participated.

National level seminars and workshops

A National Conference on "Converging technologies beyond 2020" was organised in collaboration with International journal of science and engineering.It received huge response with over 250 papers received from all over the country and outside. Proceeding including the selected papers was published in the journal's special edition.

In association with Electronics Science Department of Kurukshetra University, UIET organized the annual meeting of the Indian Microelectronics Society.

A workshop on "Computer Networks" was conducted by Dr. D. Medhi (Professor, University of Missouri, Kansas City, USA)

Placement

The Training and Placement Cell comprises faculty members as well as students. It strives to network and connect with major industrial players like SAMSUNG SEL (NOIDA LAB), Wipro, TCS, Infosys,HCL, L&T, Tech-Mahindra, Bharat Electronics Limited, IBM, Accenture, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, Mphasis Ltd., Nagarro, Oracle financial Solutions, Genpact Sasken, Newgen, Birlasoft, Infogain, NIIT Technologies and many other big wigs of the Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and production industries.
