Background

A single Whig, Edward C. Cabell, had been elected in 1846 and re-elected in 1848 to fill Florida's at-large seat in the House of Representatives.

Election results

Edward C. Cabell ran for re-election. This was the last election won by Cabell, and the last federal election won by any Whig in Florida.
