The school has Ashland's second-largest solar electric generation facility which provides 60% of the school's needs.

A bicycle hostel is located next door.

In the summer of 2009, UBI opened a second campus in Portland, offering most of the same classes as its campus in Ashland. Along with its curriculum, the Portland campus will expand to offer sales of frame building materials and equipment to fuel the growing bicycle frame fabrication cottage industry in Portland.
