"Under the God" was the first single released by Tin Machine, taken from their eponymous debut album in June 1989.

Contents

Though "Heaven's in Here" was actually the album's first single, it was promo-only, which made "Under the God" the first official single, giving the release an unusual distinction of a lead single being released after the album had been issued. The video was directed by Julien Temple (which masqueraded as a performance, with the audience storming the stage). It was performed live on both of Tin Machine’s tours.
