Critical reception
David Jeffries of Allmusic gave the album four stars out of five and complimented the album's usage of popular songs and artists, saying it "series, but the interesting thing is how the "poppier" and "dancier" songs are now pushed toward their own discs.", and said that "The label's always willing to pay for the big popular tunes, so neophytes or those with two left feet should rest assured that even if they don't know the names, this one is certainly Ultra."
