History

Uline was founded in 1980 when Liz and Dick Uihlein started the company from their basement. Its first product was the H-101 carton sizer.

Uline has distribution centers near Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Allentown, PA; Los Angeles, CA; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; and Seattle, WA. There are also locations in Mexicali and Monterrey Mexico and near Toronto and Edmonton Canada.

Expansion

The Village Board of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin unanimously approved final plans for a second building at Uline’s headquarters in February 2016.

Political activity

Uline CEO Richard Uihlein has been a Republican donor for decades, and increased his political giving after Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission. Uihlein has supported conservative groups and candidates like Ted Cruz, The Club for Growth, and the Illinois Policy Institute. Uihlein is also a major donor to Americas PAC, Scott Walker, and Bruce Rauner. In May 2016, Donald Trump announced the appointment of Uline President and co-founder Liz Uihlein to the position of national vice-chair for fundraising efforts for his campaign.
